How referral tracking works, and why some sales may not be credited
When someone clicks your referral link, our store saves a small referral cookie in their browser for 7 days. If they buy within that time, the sale is credited to you automatically.
Privacy laws limit when we're allowed to save that cookie. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, we must ask visitors for permission before setting any tracking cookie, including referral cookies. In several US states, we must respect a visitor's browser privacy signal (Global Privacy Control), which tells websites not to track them. When a visitor declines tracking or their browser sends that signal, we're not allowed to save the referral cookie, so a later purchase can't be credited automatically.
This isn't a choice we make to reduce commissions. Every store that follows these laws works the same way, and it affects only a small share of visitors. Most people don't use these privacy settings, so most of your referrals are tracked normally.
We can also create coupons and discounts just for your audience, to support you and the people who follow you. Just reach out and ask.
If your referral numbers ever look off, or you have questions about how tracking works, email dsp@raytownproductions.com and we'll be happy to take a look.
