Waves Abbey Road RS124 Plugin Review | Best Compressor For Drums?

At first, I wasn’t excited when I heard Waves was releasing a new compressor, but after testing the new Waves Abbey Road RS124 plugin in some extreme situations, I’ve fallen in love with it!

The RS124 compressor has a style all its own. It has the longest release times I’ve ever heard – and because of this, it’s buttery smooth. There are some hidden features I get into that “wake up” the compressor and turn it into a monster on a drum bus!

My favorite applications so far have been on a drum room bus to make the drums larger than life and also on a distorted bass guitar to squeeze and control it. You almost can’t tell it’s on the bass at all, but the bass gets tightened up and thickened in the best way possible.
